Tips and tricks for recruiting the best talent around you!

‘Great vision without great people is irrelevant’ – Jim Collins.

Modern recruiting is all about building relationships, it is about bringing together people who will not only understand your vision but will put in their best efforts to enhance it.

Among the ever-growing talent pool, how do you make the decision as to who will be the best fit for your organization? Well, we know how tricky things can get when it comes to recruiting the right person and having them on board. A lot of factors come into play when looking for the right candidate, and luckily for you, we have decided to note down all the things that come into play and break them into the following categories:

Know what you want:

Now you may think that this is a given, but more often than not there is little clarity when it comes to what exactly you are looking for, our advice here would be: Sit with your team and note down all the key roles you need the person to fill and then based on that create a crisp and clean job description. Decluttering works in all walks of life.

Engage your current employees:

As we mentioned in the previous point, it is imperative to sit with your team and have a brief discussion as to what sort of a skill-set do you, as an organization, need to bring in. This will not only help in terms of things running smoothly but also boosts your employee’s morale as their suggestions and observations are taken into account while making substantial changes.

Perfect is a myth:

We hate to break it to you, but there is absolutely no such thing as a ‘perfect’ candidate. A candidate will only turn into a ‘perfect’ employee when he/she receives proper guidance and training. You create perfect employees, not hire them. Here, you need to make sure that you don’t hire on the basis of qualifications alone, there are a lot of other factors taken into consideration with each job that is out there; make sure you make a well thought out decision.

As the former COO of General Electric, Lawrence Bossidy said, ‘Nothing we do is more important than hiring and developing people. At the end of the day, you bet on people, not strategies’

Don’t Rush:

You may at times be in a situation where you absolutely need to have someone on board on an urgent basis, whether it is to complete that client deadline or you need an extra hand on a huge project undertaken. Hiring during these situations can be stressful, yes and you may be willing to overlook some things to just having someone on board, but let us tell you why that might be not the best idea.

For starters, every employee has a unique role to fill, everyone brings in their own creative outlook and unique methods to get the job done. By rushing through the hiring process and having someone, who is perhaps not even the right fit will end up affecting your company. Sometimes one wrong choice is all it takes to put a stop on all the progress achieved so far.

Social media is the ‘IT’ place:

Social media provides your company and your brand with a huge platform, you have the power and the resources to reach the masses. Social media is now also the place where you may end up finding exactly the candidate you were looking for. With such a wide reach, social media is definitely something that every company should adapt to.
